The ultimate quest, the final goal, the most dangerous journey: the encounter with oneself. No El Dorado will ever be more beautiful than the one from which our dreams grow.

Performance created in June 2019 at the end of a one-year artistic residency in a school environment with one hundred children between the ages of 8 and 10 and fifteen adults (teachers and musicians).

Motivated by the desire to reduce inequalities in terms of access to art and culture and to increase the numbers of participating children and young people, the associated cities of Lille, Hellemmes and Lomme decided to establish the ARTS (Artiste Rencontre Territoire Scolaire) residencies-missions, focused on three artistic axes: Reading, Music-Dance-Theater and Architecture-Cultural Heritage, each entrusted to a creative artist around the theme of “El Dorado”, in close partnership with the regional direction of cultural affairs of Hauts-de-France (DRAC), the rectorat of the Academy of Lille – Academic Delegation to Arts and Culture (DAAC) and the Direction des services départementaux de l’éducation nationale – Nord (DSDEN).

The music-dance-theater axis was developed under the educational and administrative responsibility of the Lille Regional Conservatory. The artistic training aims to combine artistic practice, aesthetic education and cultural openness in a harmonious manner.

Following a call for applications and a panel of judges, the Cultural Center of Lille and its partners decided to welcome Marcus Borja during the 2018-2019 school year. The purpose of the residency-mission is to engage the artist within various teams of educators in charge of children, adolescents and young adults to help elaborate artistic activities inspired by his or her research and creative process.

Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride"

“If you seek for Eldorado!”
